COL Danielle Ngo Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA) Senior Fellow Center for Strategic and International Studies Colonel Danielle Ngo is currently attending the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington D.C. as a Chief of Staff of the Army Senior Military Fellow. Born in Vietnam and raised in Massachusetts, she enlisted in the Army and attended Basic Training in 1990. Colonel Ngo later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers in 1994, graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Prior to this assignment, Colonel Ngo was the executive officers for the U.S. Army Inspector General, Pentagon, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Pacific Commander at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. She commanded the 130th Engineer Brigade at Schofield Barracks, HI from 20 July 2016-10 July 2018 with her Soldiers providing humanitarian assistance and military construction throughout the Pacific from Hawaii to the Republic of Korea. She also participated in the US-China Disaster Management Exchange in Kunming while in command. Her previous assignments include: Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, A Company, 62nd Engineer Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas (SFOR/IFOR, BOSNIA); Assistant Brigade S-4, 20th Engineer Brigade (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Battalion S-1, Assistant S-3, 37th Engineer Battalion (Airborne), Fort Bragg; Commander, 610th Engineer Detachment (Topo), Fort Hood; Company Commander, HHC, 299th Engineer Battalion (Combat), Fort Hood; Brigade S4, Deputy SGS, 1st Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood (OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM I, IRAQ); Joint Chiefs of Staff Intern, Washington D.C.; Assistant Division G-5, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; Deputy J-5, U.S. Forces- Afghanistan (OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, AFGHANISTAN); Battalion S-3, 1-1 BSTB,1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley; Chief, Maneuver Support Organizations, MSCOE, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Battalion Commander, 52nd Engineer Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado; Military Assistant to the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee in Brussels, Belgium. Colonel Ngo holds a distinguished graduate Military Master of Arts and Sciences (MMAS) in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College (USAWC), an MMAS in Theater Studies from the Command and General Staff College (CGSC), and a Master of Science in Public Policy from Georgetown University. Her military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, CGSC, School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), USAWC, and the IG School Basic Course. She is also certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP). Her awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit-3, Bronze Star Medal-2, Defense Meritorious Service Medal-2, Meritorious Service Medal-3, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal-3, Joint Service Achievement Medal-3, Army Achievement Medal-6, Joint Staff Identification Badge, Army Staff Identification Badge, Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge, Silver Order of the de Fleury Medal, and German Sports Efficiency Badge (Gold).
